Richmond, VA (November 8, 2010) – The National Wine Experience presented by USA TODAY
(NWE), America’s premier national wine exhibition, debuts Saturday, November 20 with a National

Virginia-based wine event management company, NWE marks the country’s first national wine
exhibition, with wines from at least 25 states.
The United States currently has at least one bonded winery in each state, and organizers plan to create a
national event with each state represented. The national count is currently at about 7,000 wineries, and
growing steadily. The list of confirmed exhibitors (as of November 8, 2010) follows, with more expected

While the National Wine Experience kicks off with this year’s National Grand Tasting event, in 2011, the NWE
plans to phase-in a daytime Walk-Around Grand Tasting, tentatively scheduled for the Walter E. Washington
Convention Center. This addition will feature an expanded list of wineries, wine and food pairings, seminars
and special privileges for the trade.
Meantime, the November 20 event at The Newseum will provide an exciting opportunity to taste wine from at
least 25 states, listen to cool jazz and enjoy the acclaimed American regional cuisine from noted chef and icon
Wolfgang Puck’s The Source, whose Executive Chef Scott Drewno is the Restaurant Association of
Metropolitan Washington’s 2010 Chef of the Year. One of the Capital’s most attractive spaces, The Newseum
is Washington’s newest and most interactive museum, while The Source is one of the region’s top dining
destinations.
“The United States is now second only to France in wine consumption,” said Alex Papajohn, Executive
Director of the NWE. “We’re creating an event that will present a unique opportunity for both emerging and
established wine regions across the country to showcase their product on a national stage.”
The NWE will provide a unique opportunity for the trade and consumers to taste, compare and contrast wine
from America’s traditional wine regions with wine from producers in less-familiar areas of the country. With
wine consumption in the States having grown an amazing 30% in this decade alone, it is an ideal time to focus
attention on wines produced in the U.S.
